Upgrade to vSphere 5.5

Before you upgrade to vSphere 5.5 some research, familiarizing and testing has to be done first. I hope you all skipped vSphere 5.1, it introduced a new Single Sign-On feature that contained bugs and clearly needed some more developing by VMware. Next came vSphere 5.5 were Single Sign-On was improved a lot. Upgrading or installing vSphere 5.5 is pretty straightforward. However I ran into two things that needed to be addressed after upgrading:

  1. vCenter Single Sign-On 5.5 Not Recognizing Nested Active Directory Groups (link).
  2. Network drivers not updated to latest 5.5 driver levels after upgrading. This caused a problem in one use case were iSCSI was used (link).
